Introduction:
Cork week has fast become one of the most prestigious regattas in the
yachting calendar. Around 550 yachts take part each year with thousands
of people descending on Cork.
Cork Week
provides the opportunity for some great racing with a variety of courses.
Part of the appeal of the week is the social scene. There are many beer
tents and music venues that stay open until 1.30pm allowing sailors and
spectators alike to unwind and let their hair down.
The racing
can be as serious or relaxed as individuals require, the main aim of the
week
is
enjoyment. With picturesque scenery, fantastic racing and a vibrant social
scene, it is no wonder Cork week is one of the most popular regattas in
the sailing calendar.
Run alternate
years to the Fastnet race it just doesn’t seem enough for this hospitable
country to host a regatta such as this one only in alternate years.
