For those
seeking to take the Yachtmaster practical exam this is an ideal opportunity
to pump up those sea miles. All crew will participate in
watch-keeping, preparing meals, sailing the yacht and all other aspects
of life on board. An exhilarating adventure on a luxurious yacht.
To
the Canary Islands
Persuasion
and Perseverance will be scheduled to leave Lymington during the first
week of October to make the 1,800 sea mile journey to Las Palmas in Gran
Canaria, Canary Islands, crossing the Bay of Biscay, then following the
coast of Spain and Portugal leaving Madeira to starboard. Averaging eight
knots over the ground it is anticipated to take the yachts approximately
2 weeks for this delivery trip - fair winds prevailing!
Across
the Atlantic…
The annual
Atlantic Rally for Cruisers from Las Palmas, Gran Canaria to Rodney Bay,
St Lucia is not only the most popular and the safest way to sail the Atlantic,
it is also now the largest yachting event in the world with over 200 yachts
from all over the globe converging on Las Palmas in early November each
year to enjoy the experience of a lifetime!
... and back again
Having spent the winter
out on charters in the Caribbean, Persuasion and Perseverance will then
be making their way home to Lymington after Antigua Race Week at the beginning
of May. The 4,500 mile trip will be split into legs so crew can join and
leave at their convenience. It is anticipated to take no less than 4 weeks
to complete the trip from Antigua to Lymington.
Something
closer to home?
For shorter
trips both the boats will be going to Cork next year leaving at the beginning
of July to get them there in time for notorious Cork Week which begins
on 15th July.
The return trip from Cork back to Lymington will follow Cork week itself.
These trips across the channel are expected to take a week.
